How to check that the photo is the correct passport size
When you download the picture, most computers allow you to check the final size very easily:
• On Windows:
1) Right-click the downloaded photo
2) Click Properties
3) Open the Details tab
4) Look for Dimensions (it will show numbers like 413 × 531)
• On Mac:
1) Right-click the photo
2) Click Get Info
3) Look for Dimensions
Every passport size in millimetres becomes a specific pixel size when printed at 300 DPI. For example:
- Australia 35 × 45 mm → about 413 × 531 pixels
- United States 51 × 51 mm → about 602 × 602 pixels
- Canada 50 × 70 mm → about 591 × 827 pixels
If your Dimensions match the numbers above (or the numbers shown in the tool for your selected country), then the photo is the correct size for printing or uploading to a passport or ID application.
